  • Scoutics (How we can find and use a low situated simple pass way through extremely high problem solving mountains?).

  • Gehirn + Wille + Programmierung

Classroom and internet course for 11th and 12th grade high school students and university students
at the junior level.
Started and nurtured by Erwin P. Stoschek (EPS), with contributions by Dagmar Schoenfeld (DS), TU Dresden
and Chen Xianping (CXP), Chongqing University.

Building on comprehensive algorithm- and application-oriented math skills (minimum: A-level), and
based on examples, the concern of this interactive course is:

  • to provide and practice problem-solving techniques, heuristic tools, and approaches which cannot be found in classical math textbooks, to lead to new frontiers
  • to stimulate and to foster the full and concentrated scope of the natural intellectual power
  • and to train to think:
    • logically
    • analytically
    • in a structured manner
    • critically
    • outside the box
    • creatively
    • a couple of moves ahead
    • complex and networked
    • flexibly
  • to strive for true presence of spirit and mind (Shaolin).

In detail, this firstly involves:

  • creative exhausting of formulas (esp. basic rules of arithmetic and algebra), facts, and ideas,
  • secondly, creative manipulation of formulas,
  • third, the search for symmetries, invariants, analogies, and similarities in order to simplify problemsolving,
  • fourth, the broadband merging of facts, ideas, methods, and problem-solving techniques from different areas of mathematics, philosophy, natural sciences, engineering, and grey area in an unprejudiced, productive, and intuition-led manner to new questions and solutions, and
  • fifth, scoutics (how we can find and use a low situated simple pass way through extremely high problem solving mountains?).

A second line provides insights into mental creativity tools:

  • formation and handling of a temporary internal color screen for mathematical objects (numbers, strings, formulas) and pictures (imagination), i.e. installation of a math short-term memory buffer and display
  • formation and handling of a stable internal memory/database with dynamic random access for basic facts, ideas, approaches, methods, algorithms etc., i.e. installation of a math long-term memory and database
  • formation and handling of a reliable associated internal CPU.
  • Brain + will + programming.
A few savants possess these capabilities by their very nature.

The course is designed to be example-based and application-oriented. It is not a systematically structured, but a subjective-selective, methodically-oriented mathematics presentation with proximity to both experimental mathematics and algorithm design, but also SF (“Turning yesterday’s science fiction into tomorrow’s reality.” http://www.mse.gatech.edu) – Math for Seals and Nerds only:

** Not encyclopedic completeness, but creative diversity
** Not perfected building, but everlasting construction site
** Not canonical artwork, but intuitive patchwork.

Algorithm design is a basic tool for successful and effective information collection, analysis, processing, and exploitation in all fields of science, engineering, economy, and finance; now and increasingly in the future.

联系方式: erwin.stoschek@mailbox.tu-dresden.de

  • 提供和实践解决问题的技巧,启发式触类旁通的技能和通往新的前沿领域的途径,这些是经典数学教科书上找不到的;
  • 激励和培养完整而集中的自然知识力量的视野;

  • 第五,scoutics(我们如何能找到并用最简单方式解决极难地问题以穿越拦路的大山?)

** 没有百科全书的广博性,但有富含创意的多样化;
** 不是尽善尽美的建筑物,而是持久更新的施工场;
** 不是经典权威的艺术品,而是形象直观的拼接物。
